In the recent times I was wandering in the streets of Gagan Mahal – Domalguda as I was invited for a party at my friend’s place. There I found huge banners mentioning a unique happening in Hyderabad known as Koti deepotsavam meaning 10 million diyas (oil lamps). This is the reason why I have started the page where you can find the unique and latest news and happenings in Hyderabad.
Koti Deepotsavam, as I mentioned, 10 million diyas are lit here at the heart of the city just a few kilometres from Birla Mandir, Hussain sagar and just beside Indira Park. The place is known as NTR stadium. Generally the months of October- November is considered as holy months after Diwali as the Hindu month of Karthik begins the day after celebrating Diwali- the festival of lights.
Every year, the Koti Deepotsavam is held here with great dedication and devotion with lakhs of devotees lighting the diyas. The moment you enter the premises, you will only experience the positive vibes and divine blessings of Lord Shiva. I literally felt the adrenal rush and was excited when I once happened to this fascinating event. Pravachan or preaching about the philosophy, mythology follows later and were preached by Sadgurus. Many prominent politicians and other celebrities are invited as guests and all praises the dedication of the devotees and the organizers.
Lingodbavam: Though mechanically operated, this episode here is another exciting feast to your vision and definitely gives you goose bumps as the Shiva Linga comes out of the ground with purohits spelling the mantras and hailing the lord along with devotees’ chorus. The aarti is also given at the time of Lingodbavam.
It was started by Shri Narendra Chowdhary, the chairman of NTV, one of the leading telugu news channel and Bhakti TV, a devotional channel. This event is being conducted successfully since years. The Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana Shri Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, Honorable home minister Shri Amit Shah and other celebrities visited the event as the guests. Remember, the event will only take place during Karthika masam (October- November). The event is considered as one of the unique happenings in Hyderabad.
Guys……. I’ll keep updating this page once i come across any unique latest news and happenings in Hyderabad.
